
Biography :
Zhongxing Liao, MD, FASTRO, FAAWR, is Professor and Chair of Thoracic Radiation Oncology and Director of Clinical Research in Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. A distinguished physician-scientist, she specializes in lung cancer radiotherapy, advanced clinical trials, and translational research to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Her work focuses on predicting and mitigating cardiopulmonary toxicity from cancer therapy. She serves as national PI of RTOG 1308, the first phase III trial comparing proton versus photon therapy for lung cancer, and has led multiple NIH-funded studies developing Bayesian adaptive frameworks for personalized radiotherapy and cardiovascular risk reduction strategies.
